The Delhi High Court legalises gay sex

Read the news just a while ago that the Delhi High Court has legalised gay sex. And well, havent we come a long way? The gist – I am happy for the Indian gay community. And here’s a simple theory – more the restrictions, more weirder do things get. And really who are we to dictate who should sleep with whom? I dont know if anything is more offensive than a common set of moral standards, standards that seem to appeal to a bunch of conservative folks.

The logic in my head has always been this – I would like to live the way I want to, and so would the the next person. Would I ever want to live with a female partner – no way! And if I had to, just to conform, how suffocating would it have been? The same logic applies to everybody. As long as we arent killing, abusing, harming one another, lets live and let live. And if you are made a certain way, there really isnt a point trying to conform to the “accepted” ways. Who is to say what is “normal”? The need should be to stay true …. to one’s self. And the acceptance of gay rights to me is simply being good about basic human rights.

Here’s to peace. Here’s to love.

PS: Love my husband. He is cool about anything I write, and anything I may want to write. :)

All your thoughts are welcome, as always. :)

  1. Finally some respect!
And yes, like you said, each one … his or her own.

  2. Yes. Well put. Who are we to say what other should do? You are pretty spot on. A lot of people (about 95%) in India think it is a disease to be cured or the more enlightened moron will consider it to be a lifestyle choice. It is neither.

A person should have the freedom to choose the way he wants to lead his/her life.

  3. Well said,

Once we had a counseling class in our college there was this doctor who explained everything from gay, lesbian, transexual. He clearly mentioned that whatever a man or woman’s sexual orientation is it is decided right before the birth of the child that is in time of once sexual organ creation. These people who turn out to be in such way is quite natural. I saw many hate comments in time of india article when they put up this news. People claim that the natural way is man to woman ,but they fail to understand that in any case mentally one is woman and other is man just that they are physically so.

Good that government has finally come to the terms and i think they should create proper awareness of this too.

Happy to see you write everything you want to …keep writing :)

  4. Thoughtful write up. I totally agree with you. on top of all the points discussed above and your post, I would like to add one more thing. I feel a greater percent of hatred comes from the people who are not ignorant about this topic. Not many people are taught are educated about these topics and this empty-headedness amounts to the greater part of the distress. “Teach them young” – sex ed should be promoted in high schools as part of the syllabus.

  5. Hey, all 4 of you agreed with what I said. :)

Yes Which Main, to each his own.

Yes Shrinath, neither a disease, nor a lifestyle choice.

The Zion View, I am glad to hear you guys have had a doc talk to you all about this. And I am glad he didnt call it a “disease”. At the end of the day, it is just a bunch of hormones, and well they work in a certain way.

Anrb, Yes, ignorace is wide spread. I guess awareness will help the cause.

  6. Oh yay. Nice husband you got yourself there. I have friends who do not think this is a great idea, that this will corrupt children’s minds to see gay people be more open.

And my reaction is : You think it will corrupt more than the item numbers on TV?

Whatever your personal prejudice is against gays, (and believe me, there are plenty who think that it’s not normal and find it disgusting) it should never come in the way of giving them their normal rights. I mean, how can it be criminal for god’s sake?

  7. Poppins, exactly, how can it be criminal!!! I mean, I give up! And well, if it is love, well then good! We need more of that anyway! :)

And totally with you about the item numbers. Where are we heading with those?! And we are creating those! Unlike people’s sexuality, which is pre-decided!!!!

How can we corrupt children’s minds? If they are naturally designed to be straight, they would choose to become gay because they saw neighbors who were?! And if they were designed to be gay, would it be wrong for them to be self expressed? Wouldnt we want children to grow up and have the self esteem to be self-expressed? Isnt that what parenting all about? Or is it to raise them to conform? :))

PS: Yes, I do have a nice husband. 😉

  8. As far as I have read and heard stories, there are instances in our Hindu mythology itself about same gender sexual involvements. I think life is much simpler when some things are not thought so much. As you said, until there is love and peace, why bother about people’s preferences and make “laws” for the choices they only have rights to make.

  9. Happy Birthday wishes in advance :)

  10. Meenu, yeah … all this anti-gay thing is such a waste of energy. :) Thanks for the wishes. :)

  11. Yes, it’s a good ruling. The more things are banned, the worse it gets.

Now what needs to be done, is legalise prostitution. When all of us can prostitute our brains and intellect, why some can’t do the same with their bodies?

  12. Hi,
Allowing gay marriages only allows the basic relationship of human to get corrupted. This corruption once passed on to our future generation in somedays they have to easily accept this relation, which might in turn alarm a bad sign in relationship intimacy of sensual lack between men and women.

Just take an example of phillipines were more numbers of Gays found, in which if in case any Gay marrying a women due to family society factor and imagine this women of this family is having a mockery life as they do not have intimacy., and their child would be the same..Here a new generation(Gene) started with mixed signals of intimacy feeling..Do you Guys want our generation also with this corrupt thoughts in their minds..or lost value of basic human relations..Please do not ever encourage this for saving not only us..saving our future generation of india..Thxs
